Nearly eleven years ago after losing my teenage son in a tragic death, I was persuaded to walk with my parents daily at the ROC as a way to heal. While I started my journey with daily evening or lunchtime walks, it was a safe haven from the crazy changes happening in my “new normal life”. I was able to find a warm healthy environment wrapped in Bible verses and friendly faces. From the desk volunteers and their cheerful welcome, to guidance with classes including gym workouts, nutrition and artsy, crafty lessons, I found a setting to refresh and lift me up during a difficult transition.
Most importantly, the ROC opened my heart to trust in the Lord more; make healthy choices; finding a coach to learn and cultivate new habits with and competitions to hold me accountable just when I needed them! The members at the ROC are supportive, friendly, caring and truly interested in one another.
